Start your exciting journey to the Danakil Depression with a morning flight from Mekele/Semera Town, where you'll be greeted by your guide and driver. From there, embark on a thrilling adventure as you drive over the Great Rift Valley escarpment and into the western highlands. Stop for lunch in Beraile town, where you can refuel and recharge before continuing on to Hamedela. As you arrive, be treated to a breathtaking view of camel caravans making their way across the desert landscape against the stunning backdrop of a dramatic sunset. Begin the day with a scenic drive to Lake Asele, where you'll witness a mesmerizing spectacle of thousands of camel caravans making their way across the desert landscape. Next, continue to Dallol Cobber Sink, the lowest point on Earth's surface not covered by water, standing at an astonishing 116 meters below sea level. Be awestruck by the breathtaking geological formations, shaped by hot springs rich in sulfur, potash, and salt. From there, head to the fabled Erta'Alle Volcano, also known as the "smoking mountain" in Afar language. In the late afternoon, enjoy a dinner break before embarking on a thrilling trek to the top of the volcano for a night-time observation of the dramatic magma eruption at its crater.
